The Oil Absorbency Test ("Patra Method") is one of the most important Physical Test for determining the "Oil Absorption Resistance" of the surface of W/P Paper, News Print Paper, Absorbent Kraft and other similar materials.
The UEC "SOAT" equipment consists of an inclined plane surface with an illuminated lamp, covered with an “Offset Blanket". The "Standard Paraffin Oil" is dropped over a brass roller through a “Precise Micrometer Controlled Syringe”.
The “Oil Absorption Time” has to be read in seconds on a “Digital Self Starting Timer”, which starts automatically, immediately after the roller comes in contact with the test specimen.
